Hi should I buy "Watchmen-Directors Cut" or "300: The Complete Experience" on Blu-ray?
If you have other versions of "300" already then you have the majority of the features on the new disc, if that factors in for you.
"Watchmen" is a much more complex film based on a much more complex book. If you are going to get "Watchmen", just be prepared for a long trek, especially if you are unfamiliar with he material.
"300", while smarter than it had to be, is still rather brainless fun. Short and to the point. "Watchmen: The Director's Cut" is over an hour longer than "300", so that gives you an idea of how heavy the former is.
As far as specs, "Watchmen" comes out at least even in every category, often bettering "300." The video actually looks better than "300" and the extra features are much more inclusive.
This is a tough choice. For someone completely unfamiliar with "Watchmen" I would warn getting into the behemoth that is on the blu-ray. Maybe rent the film first or brush up on the material to see if its for you. It is not an optimistic story of human beings overcoming great odds, as "300" is in its ontology.
